Bull whip
The most important and most decorated work equipment of the shepherds was their bull whip. It can be originated before the times of the Hungarian conquest from the east. These whips are handcrafted and used to this day by horsemen and cowboys. They masterfully used them even against wild animals and bandits. The shepherds’ of Hortobagy handcrafted whips are decorated with marquetry – like inlay, these motifes are usually grey cattle, racka sheep, a draw well, the puli dog or the Nine-hole bridge. We are very pleased that this hortobagyian style bull whip now is part of the Hungarian Depository since 2015 as a prominent value of the hungarian shepherds culture.
